Black Hills & Badlands Tourism Association hosted the 35th Annual “Lit Swap” from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City. The Lit Swap was sponsored by Certified Folder Display, Custer State Park, Workforce Diversity Network, and Lead Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Lit Swap kicked-off the tourism industry’s peak season and celebrated National Travel and Tourism Week, which takes place May 6 to 12, 2018. More than 160 tourism workers from 100 businesses distributed their visitor industry brochures and magazines at the event to South Dakota Department of Tourism Welcome Centers that are located along Interstate 90 and Interstate 29, prior to their May 14 season opening. They “swapped ‘til they dropped” in Rushmore Rooms C & D, using handcarts and wagons to exchange thousands of brochures with each other.

BH&B’s Fifth Annual Business-to-Business Mingle & Mix was held in conjunction with the Lit Swap in Rushmore Room B. Attendees visited with businesses that support local tourism during the mixer and learned about the products and services they offer. The event concluded with a season kick-off party where attendees had the chance to win several door prizes.

The Association would also like to thank the local media for featuring the event in their news coverage, including KOTA Territory News.
