In this edition of microBytes, we're putting the spotlight on eBlasts and how your member dollars are being put to work in these valuable emails.

In-house, our team works together to develop the content and design for each eBlast, featuring the latest and greatest news and events from the Black Hills and Badlands. These eye-catching emails are sent approximately 8 times per year—just enough to keep planting the seed to visit our area, but without becoming obnoxious or overdone.

Instead, we select original content pieces from our Black Hills Travel Blog that have already experienced high levels of success among our social channels. With the upcoming season and holidays in mind, we tailor each eBlast under a theme best suited for potential travelers during that time of year.

Once the content, layout and design have been finalized, the eBlasts are scheduled to be sent at 6 a.m. on Saturday mornings. This mass send is made up of over 164,000 qualified addresses—those who have personally opted in to receiving Black Hills and Badlands information. Each eBlast typically experiences a 10% click-through-rate of those who have opened the email and are seeking additional information.

This highly qualified list also provides an incredible marketing opportunity for those looking for additional digital efforts. Each eBlast is capable of featuring paid partner spots, which link directly to the member's website and include a photo, title and brief description. Following the eBlast, the participating member will receive a personal follow-up of valuable stats indicating the performance of the eBlast.
