BH&B Press Release: Wind Cave Fire Update

As firefighters from local, state and federal agencies currently work to contain the Cold Brook Fire in Wind Cave National Park, we want to send a “friendly reminder” to stay abreast of the latest news reports so that we can share information with our visitors that are currently here, and those who will be arriving in the days ahead.

Wind Cave National Park is open and operating as normal, though officials are advising the public to be cautious when driving throughout the area, especially where there may be decreased visibility due to heavy smoke.

Currently, the Cold Brook Fire is estimated to have affected 5,500 acres, including 1,000 acres of the original prescribed burn, plus 4,500 acres after the fire escaped fire crews.

For the most updated information, please visit www.greatplainsfireinfo.blogspot.com or www.inciweb.nwcg.gov. We also encourage you to send an email to greatplainsfireinfo@gmail.com and ask to be included in their email distribution list for future fire updates.

We will be monitoring this fire and any others that occur, and will stay in contact with you about them. Please join us in keeping our firefighters in your thoughts and prayers.
