Mount Rushmore Fees, Facilities and Hours

Park Hours & Fees
Mount Rushmore National Memorial is open year-round except Christmas Day. Summer hours are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and in the winter the park is open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. There is no admission fee to the Memorial; however, there is an annual $10 parking fee. A $25 parking fee is charged for buses.

Directions
Visitors traveling on I-90 should exit at Rapid City and follow Highway 16 southwest to Keystone and then Highway 244 to Mount Rushmore. Visitors coming from the south should follow Highway 385 north to Highway 244, which is the road leading to the memorial.

Facilities
The Information Center is open seven days a week year-round from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the summer. This center offers an information desk, an orientation exhibit and a Mount Rushmore History Association Bookstore.

The Lincoln Borglum Museum is open seven days a week year-round from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the summer. This main visitor center and museum houses major exhibits on the carving, presidents, sculptor and workers. Two theaters show a 13-minute film. The museum also houses a Mount Rushmore History Association Bookstore, information desk, restrooms, phones and water fountain.

The Sculptor’s Studio is open mid-May through September. Hours include 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 15-23 and Aug 16-30. From May 24 through August 15 the studio is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tools and models used in the construction are on display in this historic building which was constructed in 1939 as the second on-site studio for Gutzon Borglum. Exhibits show the techniques used in the carving.

Services
Xanterra Parks and Resorts operate the Carvers Café, Memorial Team Ice Cream Shop and the large gift shop at the Memorial. The concession facilities are open year-round.
