In addition to outstanding antique shops, motels, museums, campgrounds and restaurants, Belle Fourche is home to one of America's premier rodeos — The Black Hills Roundup. You'll discover summer concerts in Herrmann Park; the Center of the Nation All Car Rally each June; Air Shows; and excellent outdoor recreation at nearby Orman Dam and the Belle Fourche Country Club. When you're ready for a place where the West still rings true, say "howdy" to Belle Fourche. We'll be waiting for you.
Geographic Center of the Nation
With the admission of Alaska and Hawaii to the Union in 1959, the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey officially designated a point 20 miles north of Belle Fourche as the Geographic Center of the Nation. Today, the Center of the Nation is marked by a 21-foot diameter monument made of South Dakota granite in the shape of the compass rose, at the Belle Fourche Visitor Center and Tri-State Museum.
Visit Belle Fourche's beautiful facility to explore the fascinating history of the corners of SD, MT, & WY. Educational exhibits and kiosks tell the stories of early cattle companies cowboys, sheep/wool industries, 95 years of the Black Hills Roundup Rodeo, railroad, military, paleontology, industry, pioneers and two-story 1876 Johnny Spaulding Cabin. Open year-round.

Things to See & Do
The 52 miles from Belle Fourche to Devils Tower along South Dakota State Hwy. 34/Wyoming State Hwy 24 are always stunning, whatever the season. But a fall drive is particularly wonderful. Orange, red, and golden-hued pockets of burr oaks and elm are pocketed in the creekbeds and valley swales along the route.
When you vacation in the northern Black Hills, you will be surrounded by an area synonymous with great stories of the gold rush and old west.
You will visit the haunts of such legendary figures as Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane, as well as many other locations in the gaming town of Deadwood, a National Historic Landmark. This region is rich with Black Hills history.
