The Mickelson Trail Trek, an annual event in the Black Hills of South Dakota, takes place the third weekend of September. Hosted on the historic George S. Mickelson Trail, this ride offers riders the chance to follow the paths of legends like General George A. Custer and Wild Bill Hickok. The beauty of the Black Hills surrounds participants as they journey through valleys, tunnels, and old mining towns. Early-bird check-in is available Thursday from 2 to 8 P.M. at the Mt. Rushmore Brewing Company in Custer. For those catching the Friday start, arrive at the Custer Chamber of Commerce by 6:30 A.M. On Sunday, head to the Deadwood Trailhead for the morning shuttle to Rochford to begin the final ride.
